| I really don't think BEST BUY will be shutting its doors or filing for bankruptcy anytime soon. |

| I'll have to find the article where it spoke of Best Buy and Six Flags slated to be gone in 2009... |
I am originally from Ohio and Geagua Lake changed to Six Flags then back to Geagua Lake then it closed forever, so I believe that Six Flags may close 1 or 2 of their Theme Parks.
Here is the article you mentioned. . . . . . .
Corporate bankruptcies: A chain reaction of Chapter 11 filings or federal takeovers, including not only General Motors and Chrysler, but also Ann Taylor, Best Buy, Jet Blue, Macy’s, Saks Fifth Avenue, Sears, Toys “R” Us, U.S. Airways and even giants like Ford or General Electric.
I am amazed that BEST BUY and General Electric are on that list but the way things are with the economy who knows what big name company will be next on that ever growing list. |

What retailer do you think will either go out of business or file bankruptcy ??
I predict the next retailer to go out of business will be KMART |
Well... I expanded the list from the link... and I see that Sears is slated to being one of them gone...
Didn't Sears consolidate with KMart...???
Foolish me for asking... I know... but why isn't KMart in the list whereas Sears is...??? _________________ ~Another day... another nickel~ |

I miss Geauga Lake ::sigh:: Ah, the good old days _________________ That's my only real motivation is not to be hassled; that, and the fear of losing my job. But you know, Bob, that will only make someone work just hard enough not to get fired. |

Yeah they consolidated and I am also wondering why Kmart isn't on that list
Circuit City & KB Toys already filed for Bankruptcy.

Don't worry Timmy's is an institution up there. I always have to have my mocha when I'm up there.. Port Coquitliam is where I always end up visiting(this is the you know I'm not BS'ing you about Canada)
They may be doing like Gap/Old Navy/Banana is closeing stores that are just sucking totally. It happens.. |

I did some research... (actually just asked my daughter as she works for KMart...)... and this is the low down...
Kmart is owned by the Sears Holdings Corporation...
So... when they say Sears may be one of the companies to go bust this year... they are also saying KMart... _________________ ~Another day... another nickel~ |

Good, maybe the best buy will close in my mall and we won't have any to compete with and our sales will go up, but then again that really sucks for all the people in my mall who work there. So I'm kind of split 50/50
I'm suprised about Spencers because we are opening one in our mall across the hall from my store??? |

I think Macy's will be the next retailer that will file bankruptcy. _________________ bankruptcy resources |

Bankruptcies don't necessarily mean out of business. There are two types, chapter 7 and 11, and depending on which one the business files under determines what could happen.
A lot of the companies filing bankruptcy are simply rerstructuring their organizations. I know KB Toys and Blockbuster are definitely going under as their liquidating their assets. Sears and Bed Bath are also probably next, as they've both reported net share losses of at least 35%-50%.
Saks Fifth Avenue is undergoing restructuring. I work for Nordstrom, and we compete a lot with them. Like us, they have full-line luxury retail stores and discount off-price stores (Saks Off Fifth) where they sell overflow from their full-line stores at cheaper prices. Saks is simply going to be closing a good portion of their full line stores and re-opening Saks Off Fifth locations to capitalize on the discount retailer trend. They'll keep their full line stores in certain areas (Beverly Hills, Long Island, Bala Cynwyd, etc.) where the consumer bases regularly shops there and gives them a profit.
I don't think Rite Aid is disappearing anytime soon. They've opened like 7 new ones around my way. |
