I don't understand how this lady even got this into her head!!
So I am a cashier at a target, well Super Target. Only some days, other days I work in my department, electronics. But this day I was on a lane. A lady comes through and is emptying her cart onto the belt. I scan only a few things when some frozen shrimp come through. I had never seen them before and I commented on their taste versus the hefty price of 7.49$. She informed me that she had not tried them but they were on sale for two for 10$. So I changed the price to 5.00$ each. At target we have the 20$ rule that if its within 20$ no need to get a manager involved and waste time. I informed her of the price correction and she said, "Oh then since your scanner rang it up wrong that means I get one free."
Now I chuckle to myself because people do this kind of joking all
the time.
After she has placed all her items on the belt she
proceeds to the area in front of me where she can wait to pay. Then she
says "Aren't you gonna turn your light on and get a manager?"
"Why?" I
ask
"Because of the shrimp, honey."
I explain to her that I have
been with target for a year and that the policy is to fix the problem
but not to provide free merchandise. So she replies, "Honey your to
young to remember, you see when the scanners first came out there was a guarantee that they would not mess up, and if they did you would get it
for free. but your to young to remember." (im 23, she must of been in
her mid 50's) But wait, why would my age matter? This is not a matter
of age, its a matter of store policy.. simply. None of this makes in
different because I am still to young to remember some guarantee. Apparently Albertsons and Safeway do it for her all the time. But who cares that
we are not them! Ugh! She cant really be serious. So I put my damn
light on and wait for a manager. While I am waiting she gets the person
in line behind her on her side, because this lady is from where target
started and thinks she remembers that. They being to insult me and say
well its those people putting it in wrong. I tell them "Wait, How dare
you sit in front of me and say that I am doing me job wrong? I have a 2
year old to support don't you dare put this on me? I have been nothing
but helpful all along and now you point the finger at me?" "no, no we
mean the people out there (the point to the sales floor) they put it
in wrong. well guess what I work on the sales floor too. Now the
price accuracy people are doing there jobs wrong. She even said that at
the grocery stores she has gotten free steaks, shrimp (All I can think
is what a freaking scammer!)
The GSTL comes and tells her no.
Pretty much the same way I do but says the LOD had the final say, so
here comes Kayla the LOD.
Poor Kayla is only a few years older
than me and gets the same thing... guarantee guarantee... your to young to
remember.. It was very insulting to us all. So as soon as Kayla told her
no, she was not going to get it free she informed us all that she was
calling the corporate office the next day. All this for 5$ mind you.
because they were 7.49 each but 2 for 10 made them 5$ each. So right
there taking 2.50$ off 7.49$ saved her 5$. Now because the price came up
wrong she wants one free.. another 5$.
I almost wish I had
just given it to her but every time I think that I just get mad because
people like that should be locked into there house for trying to scam
companies into giving them free shit. Why are you so damn special?
because you watch the price so carefully? guess what..so do I.
Next
time I go grocery shopping.. I am using my guarantee. Free food here I
come. LOL!
