Courtesy Is Awesome

Unlike many horror stories most Courtesy Clerks bitch about, I love my job. I think I got lucky with my store, because I'm sure it could be a lot worse. So I'm pretty new at Albertsons, 3 months, passed my 60-day probation period (which means I go from a white polo to a blue polo, that's it) with flying colors. Being new and over 18, they have me closing a lot, which isn't even that bad, the latest closing shift ends at 10, and when I start my closing job, checkers don't call for bagging. I spruce up the employee bathrooms, clean the breakroom, and organize the bottle room and I'm done. Piece of cake, but I do a good job, and my store is really nice and new, the only Albertsons I would want to work at. Frequently, the GM managers will ask if I want to stay and do grocery for a few more hours, to help me make more money.
I love the people I work with. Our 4th and 5th Managers are my age (18-19), and are really chill, but also professional. Those two managers along with about 10 other people from different departments all go to the same parties just about every other day, its so awesome. And the front end managers are also really cool. During breaks in school, they consistently give me 30-40 hours, and are REALLY good about working around my school schedule. And as long as it's not too bad, they really don't care about small dresscode infractions or piercings. My store also houses regional headquarters, so a lot of big shots are around. They seem intimidating, but if you just look busy, no one really bothers you. Starting pay is good, $8.50 an hour. The way I see it, if I'm productive and willing to work with them, they'll send the love back and work with me. Everybody who works there knows working there can be bland, repetitive, and boring, so we all do our best to make it the opposite of that and just have lots of fun, and it works.
